Chapel Designs is the culmination of generations of master craftsmanship and decades spent devoted to honing the old-world skills that are rarely found today. Owner and founder,Peter DiSanto, was raised in the sawdust of his Father's furniture-making shop, working with the medium of wood beginning in his boyhood. Throughout high school Peter worked in several furniture factories. In 1974 Peter moved to Vermont where he worked in a number of woodworking shops building everything from custom furniture, cabinetry, and furnishings to wooden signs, and even wooden toys. After developing his craftsmanship Peter was approached by a priest to design and craft a unique and special piece--a portable altar for worship.
Following the success of this first sacred piece, Peter segued into the revered art of liturgical furniture construction. It was not long before word spread of his expert craftsmanship. Soon different Church's sought his skills. Peter then began focusing on liturgical furnishings-- from simple kneelers to elaborate carved altars, and exquisite custom tabernacles. His work can be found in churches, monasteries and convents in over sixteen different states. This old-world art requires not only ornate craftsmanship but also reverence for its forthcoming purpose as a piece to be used in worship.
From small wooden toys to soaring altars--and even entire timber framed churches-- Chapel Designs has the unique, expert ability to transform beautiful natural native woods into cherished sacred pieces that last for generations.
